Hampshire Fare’s 21st Hampshire Food Festival
Event Opened by Cllr.Rob Humby, Leader of Hampshire County Council
Hampshire Fare launched the 21st Hampshire Food Festival at a special evening event held in the stunning setting of Quob Park Estate on Friday 2nd June.
The event was opened by Councillor Rob Humby, Leader of Hampshire County Council. He commented: “Hampshire Food Festival provides a time to reflect on all the care, time and hard work that goes into bringing quality food and drink to our tables, as the Festival offers plenty of opportunities for residents and visitors to learn more about where their food comes from and how it is made – shining a spotlight on the people who are the driving force behind one of the most valuable and valued sectors of Hampshire’s economy.”
Tracy Nash, Commercial Manager, Hampshire Fare, explained: “I get asked all the time what Hampshire Food Festival is; the answer is that it’s very complicated! The Hampshire Food Festival has never been simply a one-day event, and this year it is bigger than ever with more than 230 dated events throughout July and August, highlighting food and drink producers across the region. Some are major events, such as the local produce market at the New Forest Show. Others are smaller and more intimate, such as visits to a private vineyard, a spelt four farm”
Guests were welcomed by the venue host, Rob Terry of Quob Park Estate. Quob Park only joined Hampshire Fare last year. Since then, they have opened further food and drink businesses in the local area, creating around 100 jobs, and including Quob Park Free Range and Organic, an online shop promoting sustainability and providing a new route to market for local producers.
Rob Terry added: “As Hampshire Fare members we have really valued becoming part of such a proactive and welcoming food and drink community. In return, it has been a pleasure to help Hampshire Fare, and the work they do promoting the area’s food and drink, with support such as the launch of the Hampshire Food Festival.”
Finally, there was an update from TV actors Sarah Parish and James Murray, founders of The Murray Parish Trust, the Festival’s Charity Partners, about the work undertaken by the Trust, raising £7 million over the last 15 years, to improve child healthcare across the region.

Additional Information
Hampshire Food Festival was established by Hampshire Fare in 2000 with an ambition and scale not seen elsewhere. It ran for a fortnight during summer and included walks, talks, tours, tastings and cookery demonstrations as well as produce markets and special menus. By 2008 it had evolved into a month of activities during July. This year, for the first time, the programme of food and drink-related activities runs across two months, July, and August.
Hampshire Fare is a not-for-profit CIC working with nearly 400 members. These encompass food, drink and craft producers, and hospitality businesses, including cafes, caterers, pubs, restaurants, and retailers such as box schemes, butchers, farm shops and village stores. They all share a commitment to sourcing local, supporting their communities, and contributing to a sustainable future for the county’s food and farming industries.
Hampshire Fare was established in 1991 with an evolving role to champion local food, drink and craft, increase awareness among the public and trade of the wide range of local produce available, encourage high standards and best practices, assist producers to compete as viable enterprises and foster all members’ development. This is achieved through business opportunities, routes to markets, events, marketing, and publicity.
