The longest river in France is also home to some of its greatest wineries. Saumur-Champigny and Chinon produce ethereal reds reminiscent of great Burgundies while the finest sweet wines of Coteaux de Layon and Bonnezeux offer the same hedonistic pleasure as anything.
Loire is a massive region, stretching from the Atlantic coastline to the centre of France, posing a challenge to defining a singular style that summarises the Loire Valley.
